The 2011 Family has been picked and renovations are underway! With the help of many volunteers and Premiere Van Lines, we moved them out of their house in one day and into Obasa Suites. They will be staying there until September 15th’s Grand Reveal.
The house is located at 155 Greenwood Cres. We invite everyone to drive by, stop in and say hello, or better yet come prepared to volunteer for an hour or two!
We can’t do this without the support of Regina. There are a few things we need from everyone:
1. First of all, we need all of you to show your support to this family and help them out in any way you can. Whether it be a friendly call to them or a visit at the suite, let’s show this family all of the love that is out there for them!
2. We need you to keep all of the details of the renovation a secret! Ashton and Dia have agreed to avoid Facebook, Twitter, emails, newspaper articles and news stories covering this Extreme Home Makeover. We want to surprise them on September 15th!
3. We need volunteers! If you or anyone you know wants to help out please either email volunteer@rebuildingdreams.ca or even just come to the house – there’s always something that we can find volunteers to do!
4. We encourage you to make donations if you are able. Even though mostly everything for this house is donated by sponsors, there are some things that we need to purchase and for that reason, cash donations are greatly appreciated. You can make them online, stop by the office (which is the trailer generously donated by Traveland RV parked outside of their house), or mail a cheque made out to Rebuilding Dreams – Box 92, Regina, SK S4P 2Z5.
This website was built to tell a story; a story of how an incredible organizing team brings together hundreds of local businesses, hundreds of volunteers, and countless donors to build a miracle for The Strong Family!

August 17, 2011
Hello everyone! Things are really starting to set in; we are getting excited for the Grand Reveal. There is already 2 weeks gone and just under a month to go. We have been trying not to think about it to much as the suspense was starting to kick in. One thing that I will ask you all is if you see us, please refrain from telling us anything; even though you may think that you are not actually revealing any information, chances are you probably are, lol. We have heard that things are going really well over there and that kind of stuff you can tell us and we like to hear it.
We are all doing great. Dia is making her way around the building and has been able to access the entire suite in her chair. This has allowed her to conserve energy to be able to do other things that she likes to do. She is even able maneuver around in the kitchen allowing her to cook (one thing that she has missed doing). She still has some family coming to visit her: her cousins Alyssa and Janelle are both on summer break from school and have come to visit, along with their mother (Dia’s auntie Diane), also Dia’s cousin Kristina comes to visit quite often with her baby, Dia loves babies, and Dia’s mother comes every day for lunch as it is walking distance from her work.
Ashton went to Kenaston with Susan and her grandson on Friday night to see Michael and Tara’s new house. They had a great visit and came back on Saturday after supper. Dia was going to go with but seeing the house is still under renovations and a lot of the furniture was still in the garage form the movers, she stayed at her parent’s house. When Ashton got back home he picked up Dia (her parents kept our daughter) and we were able to relax for the evening. We were going to check out the hot tub that is on the deck but we got to visiting with some of the other tenants and decided maybe another time.
Sunday was a good day. Dia’s parents dropped off our daughter and we went to Dia’s old work for a staff barbeque. One thing that is great about them is being Dia is unable to work they still include her as an employee. After the barbeque we went to Adam and Jana’s son’s birthday party. We stayed for as long as we could and it was fun the kids got to play and we got to meet some more of the people involved.
Next up on our list was the barbeque and movie in the park. This was a great event and thank you to the people involved. We had a lot of fun and we could see all the kids there were enjoying the blow up ring and all the games. Even our friend Jose came out with his grandma and sister. Jose is a resident at Wascana Rehab and it was nice to see him get out and enjoy the event. At the event people were signing and drawing on bricks that go in the backyard, some of them are like “WOW”.
Overall this past week we have had a great time. The time is passing by a little bit more quickly and we are very excited for the Grand Reveal. The RBD team has some things planned for us over the next little while; this will help keep our curiosity to a minimum, lol.
Shine on and until next time,
The STRONG Family
Join us on Tuesday August 16th for a movie in the park behind the TC Douglas Building! Fun begins at 5pm with a BBQ and mini-carnival for the kids. Once the sun goes down, we will light up the park with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Donations will be accepted upon enterance – please come down and show your support for the STRONG family.
Help us reach our goal of $100,000 to change lives forever. Even the smallest gift goes a long way.
